Well friends, it’s been a week since the Pursuit conference ended and I have marinated on the messages and the impact of the event over the past few days. Isn’t the Lord so good to give you encouragement right when you need it?

At events of this nature, it is no coincidence when messages and themes can be strung together like a set of beautiful pearls--it is the Lord’s hand on the speaker's preparation and the Spirit’s influence pressing into their hearts what the people need to hear.

Over and over at this event, we heard similar messages, themes, scriptures and the speaker would say, “I didn’t know what she was going to share, yesterday, but my message perfectly dovetails.” Or, “I didn’t know the worship set songs, but they were the perfect set up for my message.”

Just look at how the messages aligned--

Thursday night we heard from Pastor Judy encouraging us to “

          Stand Strong

” and understand our power, authority and position in the Lord. She told us that “location matters” and we have no option but to stand strong in the Lord and in the power of his might--resting on the truth of His word and promises to us through that word.

Friday morning, we were blessed with a worship set from David and Nicole Binion where they led us straight into the throne room of heaven with their powerful and anointed example. It was a reverent time of admiring the holiness and power of the Lord.

Friday afternoon, Pastor Delana reminded us that though people might be struggling [in their faith walk], she harkened back to the message from Pastor Judy reminding people to just STAND. And then went on to tell everyone to

          stay in the fight

and get in the ring. She used some powerful object lessons and visuals centered around fighting. I appreciated her use of familiar movie clips and powerful visual imagery that reminded me that the current struggles I might be walking through are training and preparation for what the Lord has in store for me next.

Friday evening, Karen Wheaton brought a powerful word on prayer. Though I was familiar with the passages from Luke, her fresh perspective and object lesson around asking a friend for bread from a house of provision was life-giving to me. Luke 11:8 says

          “

But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.”

           Karen’s admonishment to be both

bold and shamelessly persistent in prayer

resonated with the crowd, but also aligned so well with the previous encouragement to stand strong in our faith and to stay in the fight/get back in the ring.

Saturday morning ended with a tag-team message from two dynamic young communicators and a powerful time of prayer and impartation. First Kaylee Tuttle shared her personal testimony of overcoming fear, anxiety and panic attacks and connected her victory over fear to learning to use her voice. Her message had broad applications for those who have let fear intimidate them or who have let circumstances silence them. She used the story of Jehosophat from 2 Chronicles 20 to illustrate how in the middle of terrifying circumstances, when we

          use our voice

to praise the Lord, he acts on our behalf.

Then Morgan Daye closed out the event with a reminder that we have

greater access to the glory of God

than even Moses had and she challenged everyone in attendance not to waste such a precious gift. She had a vision where she approached a large gate and was right at the threshold, but didn’t cross over. We have access to the other side and authority in Christ, but we let the devil and his minions threaten and intimidate us. She challenged everyone to

          push through

--Victory is on the other side. Don’t let Satan derail you from walking in victory and experiencing the glory that God has revealed to us.

I loved how the thread of messages connected all through the weekend, like a beautiful string of pearls, they built one on another.--Stand strong, stay in the fight, persist in prayer, use your voice [power and authority in Christ] to overcome challenges, push through fear and intimidation to cross the threshold into greater glory.

Only God could orchestrate such a perfect package of encouragement and empowerment. I hope your heart is full, your faith is strong, your prayers are more persistent and bold, you're ready to get back in the fight and use your voice to overcome the messages of fear and intimidation that are swirling around you and that you are fighting from a place of renewed strength because you are walking in the fullness of the revealed glory of God.

Saturday opened with an encouragement to make sure attendees didn’t leave unless they got what they came for! Morgan said that God is not only the author but the finisher--He is not done yet!!

The stirring worship set consisted of songs that reminded everyone of how God redeems, restores and turns what the enemy meant for evil into good.

Pastor Judy talked about how “undignified” birthing can be. How you have to reach deep down for strength-- you have to get to a point where you have to push through--and you will let out a groan, a yell, a scream that matches the energy exerted and you will deliver! This perfectly set up the message the Lord laid on Kaylee for this conference.

All weekend, she had been peppering throughout the worship sessions the phrase, “Your voice matters. Raise your voice.”

Today, she shared her personal testimony and where that idea was birthed in her own life.

Although she was raised in a Christian home and had no childhood trauma, at the tender age of eight, she was gripped with terrifying panic attacks, anxiety and depression. They started after a particularly vivid dream where she encountered a large snake in her bed that crawled into her body. She recounted how she would cling to her mother in times of panic attacks and her mom would sometimes even cancel travel plans to stay home with her instead of traveling. This season is where the idea of “pray until” was birthed in Pastor Judy’s ministry. During this season, people all over the world were praying for her healing and deliverance.

One day, in the throes of another overwhelming encounter with unrelenting fear, she was begging her mother for help. In a strong moment of clarity and spiritual discernment, her mother said, “Kaylee,

          this is not my battle

           . The enemy is after

           you.

You have to take authority over this yourself. This is not going to happen because of my voice. You have to speak it out. This is only going to break when you take authority with your own voice..your mouth!”

Kaylee recalled that she didn’t know how. She didn’t know what to do. She also noted that there is a difference between compassion and pity. Compassion will say this pit isn’t made for you! It will feel for your condition, but will also tell you the truth and help you climb out. Pity will feel sorry for you, but will not offer hope. It will leave you in your broken condition. Pity lets you stay trapped. Her mother had

          compassion

on her when she spoke truth to her.

Her mother told her, “Kaylee--just say the name of Jesus.”

She began to speak it, first quietly, then something rose up on the inside. The intensity rose with a feeling that was swelling inside her. She began to say with authority, “In the name of JESUS! I don’t know where you came from, or what you’re trying to do to me, but I come at you in the name of JESUS.”

The truth will set you free!! Your voice matters.

2 Chronicles 20 tells the story of Jehosophat. He was surrounded by the enemy. Absolutely terrified. Unsure of what to do. He begged the Lord for guidance. He ordered a fast. He prayed. He was still afraid, even after he knew what God had done in the past. He prays a beautiful prayer recounting all the ways God had met their needs in the past and ends with “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” Scripture tells us in vs 17 that the Lord responded, “Do not be discouraged..the battle is not yours, but Gods. You will not even need to fight, watch the Lord's hand..He is with you.” Jehoshaphat responded in worship. He determined that when they went into battle the next day the singers would go before the army, praising the Lord for his holiness and splendor.

          Kaylee connected her message--Your Voice Matters--to 2 Chronicles 20:21-24

They praised the Lord in the middle of the war. Before they ever went to battle, they raised their voices and declared the goodness of God. They sang, “Give thanks to the Lord, for his mercy endures forever.” The Bible tells us that at the very moment they began to sing, the Lord caused confusion in the enemy camp and they turned on each other. So much so, that when the army of Judah arrived, they only saw dead bodies in the camp as far as they could see.

Before she transitioned the microphone to Morgan Daye, she asked, “Can you thank Him in the middle of your pain, in the middle of your depression, in the middle of your circumstances?? Give thanks to the Lord!! The army of Judah gave a sacrifice of praise in the middle of their pain, their fear, their battle. Lift your voice!! Take authority with your own mouth--I can’t do it for you!! I want you to get your voice back!”

The crowd stood on their feet with shouts of agreement and praise as she concluded her message.

          The Glory of the Lord

Morgan Daye took the stage and shared a vision the Lord gave her. She described it as representing the church. She saw a group of people w/ locked arms. They were lost in the dark, it was so foggy, they were taking a single step at a time.Yet, they were in complete unity. As a group, they came upon a huge gate, so tall that they had to tip their heads all the way back to see the small sign at the top. The sign said “Glory days.” The Lord impressed on her that this was a gate that the church had not come out of but one they had yet to enter into.

“I believe the best days--the Glory days--are ahead of us, not behind us”

Growing up in a church where she saw signs and wonders, Morgan has often wondered and asked the Lord, “Why aren’t we seeing those kinds of signs today?” And she said that when she wonders that, she feels the Lord asking her right back.

She makes the point that the examples of outpouring in church history were always preceded by unity, “So, we honor God for what he has done, but He’s not done. There’s more!”

2 Corinthians 3:7-11NLT (bold type and italics used for emphasis)

The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away.

          8

Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life?

          9

If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God!

10 In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way. 11

So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever!

Sometimes we look at those outpourings of the past and we would never imagine or ask for more. But this scripture instructs us that we can ask for and experience a far greater glory than even Moses experienced--and he literally walked with God!!

This same passage goes on to say in the next verse:

12

Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold.

Not only can we ask for more--for greater glory--but we can ask with boldness.

We have incredible access to more of God, but everyday it is wasted. Moses couldn’t even imagine the access we have been granted. When he encountered God, He had to hide in the cleft of the rock and cover his face yet 2 Cor 3:18 tells us:

18

So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

We can see and reflect the Glory of God, no veil! And the Spirit is transforming us with every encounter to be more and more like him…from glory to glory.

Truly, we have unlimited access. Comparison, complaining, jealousy, intimidation and other hindrances stand in the way of unity and unity is the key to the outpouring, the Glory that we seek and is promised to us.

We won’t get through the gate--experience the fresh glory of God--unless we are walking in unity. We need to walk in unity. Our battle is not against flesh and blood. Fight for unity. Put away offense. Followers of Jesus don’t have the luxury to be offended.

Morgan explained in the vision she had, that there was darkness, difficulty, stumbling and uncertain steps, a fight for unity in direction and the temptation to stop pushing ahead. There is often a time and space between a word or promise and fulfillment. Sometimes we wonder, “Is this ever going to happen??” She exhorted the crowd, “Don’t die at the gate. Don’t give up before you reach fulfillment.” In recalling her vision, she realized, “I was on the threshold. I was right at the gate..I can’t stop now.”

The encouragement to us all is not to let all the work and effort you’ve expended in the race go to waste. Don’t stop now. You can’t quit now. The Apostle Paul put it this way, “I focus on this one thing, forgetting the past and focusing on what is ahead. I press on.” (Phil 3:13)

When Morgan had this vision and was impressed with the message, “Don’t die at the gate,” she thought of the prophet Elijah. We are familiar with Elijah’s story. As the prophet of the Lord, he told the evil King Ahab that it would not rain and it did not rain again until Elijah said that it would. After three years of drought, Elijah holds a contest on Mt. Carmel. King Ahab and all the prophets of Baal are there appealing to their god to come burn up their sacrifice. All day they called out, even cutting themselves to appeal to their god. Elijah mocked them, “Maybe your god is napping. Maybe he is relieving himself. Maybe you need to yell louder.” After a time, Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord, poured water in the trench and on the sacrifice (WATER--in a drought!) and then he prayed. The fire of God consumed the sacrifice, the altar and licked up all the water too. After this, he slaughters the prophets of Baal and then taunts the king, “I think I hear rain coming.” He goes to intercede until the rain comes and then outran the King's chariot all the way to the entrance (the gate) of Jezreel. (1 Kings 18)

These are not the actions of a timid man, yet when the evil Queen Jezebel hears of his slaughter of her prophets, she threatens his life. Instead of crossing into Jezreel, Elijah runs for his life. He listened to the threat of the enemy and it caused such discouragement that he literally thought it might be better if was dead.

The enemy doesn’t want us to go through the gate. He will do all he can to prevent you from crossing the threshold. He will distract and divide. He will cause discouragement and disillusionment. He will beat down your endurance. He will threaten and intimidate you. But you do not have to listen. The enemy doesn’t want you to enter the gate.

In 2 Kings 9, Jehu--from the next generation of anointed leaders--steps through the gate and kills Jezebel. Don’t leave a mess behind for the next generation to clean up. Step into your appointment and boldly fulfill what God has called you to! Don’t leave a ‘Jezebel’ for your kids to take care of.

Victory is on the other side. We have access and authority, but we let the devil and his minions threaten and intimidate us. Don’t let him derail you from walking in victory and experiencing the glory that God has revealed to us.

Don’t stop at the threshold. Don’t delay at the gate. The Bible say in Isaiah 62:10:

Pass through, pass through the gates!

Prepare the way for the people.

Build up, build up the highway!

              Remove the stones.

Raise a banner for the nations.

By walking in obedience, you are preparing a way for others to follow. You are setting an example and paving a way for those coming behind you.

Morgan challenged the crowd, “By faith..walk through this impartation tunnel with the expectation that God will take you to your next level. You will be empowered to storm the gates. You will not quit, you will not stop, you won’t give up.”

The service ended with a prayer “impartation tunnel” where the ladies were called forward generation by generation. A powerful move of the Holy Spirit was evident in the room and atmosphere as the altar was filled with women hungry for the Glory of God to be evident in their lives.

Kaylee Tuttle opened the evening service reviewing the list of words for praise and worship in the original Biblical languages. Her point was to encourage everyone to understand that there is no one right way to worship, yet every word for praise in the Bible has something to do with movement and/or raising your voice. So she asked that everyone position themselves for breakthrough by participating in worship. Raise your voice and sing!! Dance, jump and run if you can!!

As the opening notes of the song “Yahweh is Worthy, Worthy” broke across the auditorium, so did a surge of energetic, expressive worship! Hallelujah, Praise will break the chains!

This is how I fight my battles…Kaylee proclaimed “Tonight you are getting your voice back. What the enemy stole, you will recover.”

Kaylee felt prompted to take the time to pray over every woman in attendance who was dealing with fear and intimidation. “The Lord is wanting to break fear and intimidation. You will not go home carrying fear. There is a lion inside of you. Shout!!!” Waves of shouting rippled through the room as women reclaimed their voices and broke the spirit of fear in their lives.

The victorious atmosphere shifted to one of worship and admiration lifting high the name of Jesus, repeating “There is no one like you and I live to worship you.” The worshipful feeling in the room culminated in a quiet, reverent version of “Worthy is the Lamb.”

Pastor Judy took the microphone and exhorted the crowd, “Let’s thank God for what He’s done so far, but let’s praise him in faith for what he is still going to do.”

Karen Wheaton is the special guest speaker tonight. A personal friend of Judy’s, they shared stories and memories of their time and travels together. Judy shared some highlights of Karen’s ministry, but she ended with Karen’s special burden for parents of prodigals.

To start her message, Karen declared, “We are at a moment in the nation and my spirit is encouraged. I believe we are seeing the beginning of answered prayer in America. We are very near the second coming of Christ, but before he comes there is going to be a move of His Spirit…Ezekiel saw a valley of dry bones and then he prophesied, ‘I hear a rumbling.’ Well. I’m telling you, there is a rumbling happening today in America. There is a stirring happening from sea to sea!”

She told the crowd, “God brought you here this weekend to strengthen your faith. He brought you here to make sure that you are ready for this hour and your role in fulfilling it.”

She went on to share that she has a call on her life to raise up intercessors. She says that without exception, everyone is called to the position of intercessor. Jesus hasn’t come yet because he desires all to come to repentance, There are still souls to be saved. He’s got you here because of the people in your world that you are assigned to. No one else can pray for those important to you, those you love, because love prays differently. The job of the enemy is to make you so tired, so discouraged, so hurt by them that you quit and stop praying.

Karen brought out two specific Biblical examples of intercession that she believes will help everyone in their own place of prayer. Both of these show up in the book of Luke as an answer to the disciples question, Lord, teach us to pray.

So, in Luke 18 Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. The story of a persistent widow.

Setting: In a courtroom

          Person being approached: Judge

What can we learn from this passage? A courtroom handles legal matters, relational disputes and issues of justice. Daniel 7:9-10 describes the ancient one “sitting down to judge” before the court began its session and the books were opened.

This means that there is a place in God we have access to to help us address legal matters, relational disputes, and issues of injustice. God is the judge, my attorney is Jesus and the accuser is the enemy of the brethren. 1 John 5:15 tells us that if we ask according to his will, we have whatever we ask.

In the story of the persistent widow we can take two things from her example: how she prayed and what she prayed. Look at the way she kept pestering that judge--that is how to pray. Bold, determined, [persistent] day and night. We ought to pray like we can wear God out and drive Him crazy. Jesus is saying to you, keep praying but turn up some boldness.

In Psalm 37:28, we see that God loves justice. This is what she prayed for, this woman demanded justice. Justice is next level. Justice demands recompense. Justice asks for restoration. Justice doesn't settle for less.

Jesus said, This judge was unjust. Don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen ones who cry out day and night..and give it speedily??

Karen shared a personal story where this lesson on prayer came to life for her from 1995, when she called on the courtroom of heaven to help with a situation she had no control over. “I laid out my case before the courtroom of heaven pleading with God, ‘You know what is best for my family, for my girls, for our lives. I am asking you to prevail for my girls’ All of the sudden, I knew. And when the gavel went down, I knew he had ruled in my favor.”

The second lesson on prayer comes from Luke 11:5-10. He will give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.

Setting: A house of provision. A house of bread

          Person being approached: A friend

Here is Jesus’s lesson on prayer from this passage. Knock with persistence. Keep knocking, knock til you are accused of trespassing…Knock til you wake the other kids, [other believers] who will advocate for you and with you, Don’t give up!!

Again in 2015, 20 years later, Karen found herself again in a situation and needed God to intervene in the life of her daughter. “I was in a situation I never imagined I would find myself in. I had a prodigal daughter.” She prayed like that persistent friend, she prayed like Jesus taught in that passage. Karen said she begged for three loaves…one for her daughters healing, one for her deliverance, and one for her salvation. In a moment of prayer, she had a vision of a door opening and an arm reached out to hand her three loaves of bread. Surprised, she asked, “are you giving me the bread?” When she spoke, the door opened and she was compelled to step through a threshold. Once inside, she realized she had stepped into a warehouse with shelves and shelves of bread. As she looked around in wonder, A voice asked..you only want three?? She declared NO, I want the whole warehouse!! I want a whole generation!

Karen stated, “This is the access and the invitation you have to our wonderful God.”

She recognized the need in the room for miracles. Things that no man can do. A quiet fell across the place as she invited those with a need to come to the front. She alluded to the conference shirts, “I’m still here” and said “I know you are tired, worn out even. But you are still here.” After some worshipful moments, She asked who in the room has a prodigal you are praying for?? Hands all over the auditorium went up.

She led the room in a powerful time of intercession for lost loved ones. Many of these in the room are mothers believing for the salvation for their children. Based on the principles shared tonight, the room was instructed to call it done in Jesus name.

Pastor Judy closed by admonishing us to hold fast to our confession of fatih without wavering because He is faithful to do what he says. Amen.

“Glory Hallelujah, Bless His Holy name…We give him praise.” This was a resounding cry of the crowd as the afternoon session opened up. Then as everyone was singing, “I’ve got a reason to praise. He woke me up this morning, started me on my way, he put food on my table, I’ve got a reason to praise.” Kaylee encouraged the crowd by reminding everyone, “We overcome by the blood of the lamb AND the WORD of our TESTIMONY When we RECALL the faithfulness of the Lord, we are reminded again…if he did it then, he will do it again!”

The vibrant worship set led us through declaring Victory in Jesus, then praising him “For every mountain, you’ve brought me over, for every valley, you’ve seen me through…” The ladies decreed ‘I will never give your glory to another one, no one, not one’ and the name of ‘Jesus is lifted high in this place’ through song. The worship set ended with the sweet anthem, “Surely, the presence of the Lord is in this place.”

Our speaker this afternoon is Pastor Delana Rutherford. Known for her passion for the Lord, miracles, signs and wonders have long been part of her ministry. She pastors a thriving church--Worship with Wonders Church--in the Atlanta area with her husband and life partner, Myles Rutherford. She is also an entrepreneur and has a line of products celebrating the unique beauty of every individual. “Be You On Purpose.”

She started her time by exclaiming that she is “here on assignment” and has been praying about what she is supposed to share today. After introducing her family and gushing over her grandbabies, she asked everyone to get on their feet and she led everyone in a rousing chorus of “Victory is Mine.” She declared that “Somebody is walking out of here today with victory!! Fear is about to be cancelled in the room today! Thank you Jesus for the victory!”

“I love worship and we had amazing worship this morning, but I feel a fight in me today. Growing up, I was a fighter.” Pastor Delana said while gesturing to the stage props of boxing gloves and a punching bag.

As she started sharing, she told the crowd about a term “medical pulse diagnosis” used in medicine. Described as a skill that is very difficult to master, a technician or doctor needs to check an individual's pulse in many different locations on the body. Ultimately, this assessment offers a picture of a person’s state of health and reveals whether they are in fight or flight mode. When you are in flight mode--You don’t care. You are numb, tapped out. Your adrenals have been in overdrive and are now completely drained, and as a result, you lack the energy to even try to fight. In contrast, in fight mode, your adrenals are healed and you have the energy and the drive to take up the fight.

Comparing these conditions to spiritual warfare, she asked the crowd to lean over to your neighbor and say, “Check my pulse.” She further declared that as believer, we need to decree over whatever battle we are facing, “I’m still here and I'm not going anywhere, Devil. I was made for this… The Lord put me in this battle, he goes before me, he is already equipping me to win this battle.” You don’t win a battle by sitting down and staying numb.Instead, you say, “I'm up, I'm standing and I'm still here.”

After a short boxing clip showcasing a crazy fast KO, she challenged the crowd asking, “Who has had enough of the enemy!??” She gave Pastor Judy a pair of gloves and recounted the ways Pastor has been under attack over the last year. As she laced up, Pastor Delana declared, “He tried to target the wrong gal!”

Instead of giving up, she told the attendees, “Listen, you don’t gotta fight, you just gotta get in the ring. If your enemy is still looking at you, you need to get back in the fight and that starts by stepping in the ring.”

As she listed the things people might still be struggling with, she harkened back to the message from Pastor Judy last night reminding people to just STAND. And then went on to tell everyone to stay in the fight and

           get in the ring.

She said that some of us need to take inventory of who is on our team. You have to be strategic about who you surround yourself with. Who are your pastors??

Fighters have a team. They surround themselves with trainers, coaches, and cutmen. Cutmen are the ones who care for a fighter after they have been wounded. If in the fight a fighter is wounded, they need a cutman who has some experience and training. Cutmen stop the bleeding and reduce the swelling so the fighter can get back in. A good cutman once said “I help you to be able to recognize the fighter after the fight.” You don’t want a cutman who has no experience. Their job is too important! In fact, the cutman's goal is to be sure the fighter keeps their composure. They need to make sure that fighter can get back in the fight.

Listen, you need to keep going back to the fight until you KO. But you need to know, who is your cutman/woman? They will not expose you, they will help you recover and keep you from further harm. They offer cover and safety. You better know who is on your team.

She shared the personal testimony of her assistant, delivered from a life of homosexuality. She had been used and abused by women in the church. She had been hurt and wasn’t trusting of other women. In the beginning stages of her restoration journey, she made some mistakes and was wavering. Pastor Delana took her aside and asked the hard question: “Are you in or out??”

Pastor didn’t throw her to the wolves or expose her sin pattern, she protected her and gave her safety, but she was also willing to challenge her. She spoke from her corner and prodded her to make a decision to get back in the fight.

Pastor Delana had a strong word for people who don’t want to listen to correction or “hard words.” She said, “You forfeit your deliverance because you choose to be offended. You need to accept correction from people who care for you.” Get the right people in your corner and then listen to their coaching!

A crowd will cheer you on as long as you are winning, but someone in your corner will stick with you because they have invested in you, they have coached you, they believe in you. They stand firm.

Referencing Ephesians 6:10, she said “The most important thing in a fight is protecting yourself and guarding yourself. You need to be strong in the LORD.”

Some people have a lot to say, but they don’t have experience. Like the cutman with no training, they aren’t qualified to speak into your life. You need to fight from experience not emotions. Your consistency is what intimidates your enemy, not your emotions. Don’t waste your pain. Let your pain serve you and train you to be more consistent. Some things are worth the fight and you need to listen to the coach and the instructions offered in order to gain the victory.

In the 80’s classic Karate Kid climax, Mr Miyagi tells Daniel “Stay focused, you cannot lose to fear.” Mr Miyagi was not moved by the circumstances. He had trained Daniel. Wash the Cars--Wax on, Wax off. Paint the fence--Up, Down. Sand the floor--Right Circle, Left Circle. Daniel’s frustration was mounting. “What does all of that have to do with karate??” He exclaimed in a heated exchange with Mr. Miyagi. Daniel didn’t understand, Mr. Miyagi was developing muscle memory and training him, rather unconventionally some would say. Yet, when the test came, it all made sense.

Some of you are walking through circumstances you don’t understand. You’ve been walking through situations that have felt monotonous, draining, exhausting But God is training you..and when you get in the ring, it will make sense. Everything that has felt disconnected, unrelated to your pain… it will contribute to your breakthrough.

Check your pulse. Get some boxing gloves and write on them, “I will win this battle” You won’t win by complaining, by talking to the wrong people, or by not having the right coaches. Get in the ring.

1 Cor 9:26 Speaks of Discipline of training, So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.

Phil 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Be encouraged, God will complete what he starts in you.

Pastor Delana shared that when her daughter was in the hospital, ready to give birth, she wanted to go all natural. But she reached a point where she didn’t think she could go any longer. She admonished the crowd, “This is where your corner matters. Where she was weak in the flesh, I had to stand strong for her. I couldn’t do it for her though…I just had to remind her of how she trained and what her strong desire was” If you won’t get weary in well doing and you will stand strong and push through..get back in the ring and fight..victory is yours. You got to get back in the ring. Don’t give up.

Ladies here are believing God for a miracle, but Pastor Delana challenged the crowd, “If you step forward for this altar call, your response today signifies that you are going to get back in the fight. You are telling the enemy that you plan on leaving today with a victory.”

The altars were inundated with women ready to get back into the ring.

To conclude, Pastor Judy had everyone proclaim “I will see fruit from this fight!” And she prayed a powerful prayer of blessing over Pastor Delana and her ministry.

          The "more of God"

I pondered the worship experience and the beautiful way the Binions led us to the Throne Room of Heaven over lunch. After a quick bite, I had the opportunity to briefly sit down with David and Nicole and was able to ask them, “What drives you to continue to write music and lead worship in the way that you do?”

David said, “ After I had an encounter with the terror of God, 28 yrs ago..I was suddenly aware of ‘the more of God’ place. I had grown up seeing all the things… healing, deliverance, miracles…but when the glory invaded our church, I was undone

At some point, some day, the heavens will open like that again. I often think, could this be the day..?? As I lead worship, that is always the hope.”

Nicole agreed, “Yes, You live for that encounter. You want to see others encounter him in that same way and experience his presence in a deeper way.”

David concurred, “Sometimes, we feel the windows open and you feel that breeze.. That familiar stirring and you want to hold the door open.”

Nicole inserted, “And the Lord hasn’t told us we are released from this yet!! We want to honor his call on us!”

Reflecting on their answers and the way they led the congregation into admiring the beauty, majesty and holiness of the Lord, I asked, “Do you think that people don't have enough fear and reverence for the Lord?”

Nicole chimed in,”For all of us, we are becoming more like Jesus. There is always a next layer and level of surrender. We should all be asking, ‘What is God leading me to in this season?’ If everyone fully saw the Lord for who he is, that awe and reverence…we would say yes to God and partner with Him a whole lot more.”

David continued, “Not knowing, not having encountered Him fully, you let the fear of man rule you instead of the fear of God. You get more concerned with what others might think rather than what pleases God.”

He concluded with the statement, “I think that people haven’t experienced it [the power of God], and they just haven’t felt it. When you cross paths with someone who has been there, or you are exposed to it, you are transformed.”

I, for one, am so thankful that David had an experience with--as he called it--’the more of God.’ That encounter transformed him in the best way and the change wrought in him a true gift to the body of Christ as a whole. Today’s service was a beautiful reflection of the passion he has for leading people into the very Throne Room of God.

An Encounter with the Presence of God

This morning, the doors to the auditorium opened and women rushed to find a seat. Intercession before the service started with proclamations declaring freedom to the captives, thanking God for breakthrough and asking that The Glory of the Lord fill the temple today. The declaration “God’s given you permission to PURSUE everything He’s promised you” resonated with the crowd and a mighty shout of agreement rose as the prayer and intercession moved into the opening praise song, “God of the Breakthrough.”

Praise transitioned into a more prayerful tone as everyone sang together, “We need the Blood, We plead the Blood..What tore the veil, what empties hell, what never fails, what testifies, what prophecies, your death is life, only the blood…only the blood of Jesus Christ.”

Pastor Judy talked about gardening and how her mom consistently planted a garden and used the “first fruits” of the harvest to sell in the local market. She would turn around and use that money to seed ministries across the country. Judy credits those seeds as the reason she has a ministry now. She reminded everyone that our seeds don’t leave us, but instead they go into our future and multiply and come back. Her momma’s tomatoes and collards made a difference in ways that her mother could never have imagined.

David and Nicole Binion took the stage after he was introduced as one of the greatest songwriters of our time. The reputation the Binions have is that of passionate worshipers. David went on to say that he appreciated the accolades, but he didn’t know if he wrote songs as much as songs wrote him.

Just before they started leading in worship, it was revealed that today is David’s birthday! Everyone sang Happy Birthday and he blew out the candles on the cake and shared his birthday wish…that people today would take a hold of the healing Jesus has for them. He expounded on the title Jehovah Jireh-The Lord will provide. That name is often connected to money or financial provision, but it first appeared in the Old Testament when Abraham was taking Issac up the mountain. The better translation is “The Lord will provide an offering.” David shared that Jesus was the offering and because of his sacrifice, we stand free from sin, but also free from sickness and disease. “Jesus already paid the price, so my wish for you is that you would walk in the healing Jesus has for you.”

The tone of the service became very worshipful as they led the crowd deeper into the presence of the Lord. Psalm 84 set to music had the ladies crying out, “Better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere. My soul follows after you” Amen, my heart echoes that cry. Lord, Wherever you lead..I’m going. I trust you.

David broke into the song to offer an ingredient that always brings the glory. “It always begins at the place of hunger. Hunger always opens the door.” When Jesus comes into the temple after the triumphal entry, he turned over tables and the disciples said, “See how the zeal of the Lord consumes him.” The zeal of the Lord, a hunger for more. There is always more for us if we are hungry.

David went on to talk a little bit about Jacob's ladder..the dream Jacob had at Bethel. Jacob said, “How awesome is this place. Surely the Lord is in the place.” This inspired David to write the song Heaven’s Gate. As they led the crowd in this song, women spontaneously knelt at the altar in reverent worship.

The transition to “You are Worthy of it All” continued the reverent worship. The room was filled with the incense of the prayers and worship of hundreds of women lifting their voices in one accord to fully surrender. The next chorus, Only Jesus, take this world and give me Him drew the focus more sharply onto Jesus.

At this point, using only keyboards, David led the crowd in several familiar songs. The beautiful voices of the crowd rose declaring the holiness and majesty of

Hello, My name is Phyllis and I will be your tour guide for this fabulous women’s event. I am expectant and excited to see what the Lord has in store for conference attendees.

I will be sharing a little about the speakers, their heart for women and ministry, as well as reflections from the services and messages all weekend.

I accepted Christ at the tender age of four on a Sunday night after my dad preached a particularly stirring sermon. I have walked with Jesus for as long as I can remember and I am so grateful for the tender way he meets my need for encouragement, especially when I need it most.

Events like this are one way he does that!

I am wildly excited to hear from Judy Jacobs, whose ministry I have followed since my days at Lee University. Also, Karen Wheaton and her “Front Porch Friends” ministry has been a blessing to me in the transitional stage of parenting I find myself in lately--launching young adults.

I met the Binion family when I was a child at a Campmeeting service in the midwest (David was a youngster then!) and I have followed David and Nicole’s worship ministry for many years. I adore so many of their worship songs and their heart to lead people to the throne room is so evident in every service they lead.

I have seen Kaylee and her sister. Erica lead worship at youth events and they bring a fiery passion for Jesus that is unmatched!

Last, I am looking forward to hearing from women who are unfamiliar to me, but who are making waves for the Kingdom in their respective corners of the world. Delana Rutherford accomplished author and recording artist is bringing a word Friday afternoon. Morgan Daye leads Prayer Force, a prayer movement focused on revival in the Tennessee Valley and serves on the pastoral team at Dwelling Place church. She will be sharing on Saturday morning.

We are thrilled to have them all here for Pursuit 2025. Oh Jesus, give us hearts for PURSUIT! Infuse us with fresh oil and blow on us with a new wind.

          Finally...

The first service opened with a strong call to worship and time of passionate intercession asking the Holy Spirit to meet attendees as they PURSUE Jesus this weekend. Women of all ages and from all backgrounds poured their hearts out to the Lord in prayer and worship. The air was electric with anticipation and expectation as they cried out in unison for 10-15 minutes.

Shortly after the first chorus, “I really believe there is breakthrough in the room” was declared after singing the chorus of “Praise will break the chains.” Kaylee Tuttle expressed that she felt led to change the song selection for this evening as an encouragement to those who are here, who like Paul and Silas, need to break chains of bondage with praise and worship. After a mini-sermon from the book of Acts, the room erupted in victorious praise!

Worship transitioned into a sweet time of worship where the presence of the Holy Spirit soaked the room as everyone cried in unison, Holy, Holy, Holy. As the music died down, the murmur of hundreds of voices individually praising in their own prayer languages filled the room. The stillness of the moment was broken with the song, He is Here. A song I hadn’t heard before, the lyrics invited worshipers to lay down their burdens…”He is here to break the yoke and lift the heavy burden. To heal the hopeless heart and bless the broken. Come and lay down the burdens you have carried, for in this sanctuary, God is here.” What a beautiful tie back to the admonition Kaylee started with…Praise will break the chains.

As Pastor Judy Jacobs-Tuttle took the stage, she declared, “There is JOY in the room!!” The musicians continued to play and waves of worship continued to move across the crowd. As she started in on the familiar strains of “The Presence of the Lord is Here” the room erupted in jubilant praise as she led everyone in the repeated phrases, “Here comes Freedom” and “Here comes Joy.”

Pastor Judy said “This may be the greatest opening of Pursuit, ever! This will be a Momentous event. We have prayed for this all year long. There is just something about it when women get together.”

After the offertory, she launched into a song with her daughters and the crowd was on their feet again as she proclaimed the scripture, MY GLORY WILL COVER THE EARTH. And then she broke into her signature song, The Days of Elijah. There is NO GOD LIKE JEHOVAH!

Pastor Judy recounted that she was baptized in the Holy Spirit when I was 12 and has been running ever since. She went on to state, “This is not the time to quit! Quitting is not an option. So much is happening in the world right now, but Jesus said when you see all these things, Look UP. You are getting ready to leave this place!!”

She reminded everyone “This is your temporary home, you are only passing through. Pray that you will be counted worthy.”

She summed up the current culture with 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Then she moved on to read Ephesians 6:10-16

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

          14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

          15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

She started her message calling every listener to “Lean in. This is important. This is imperative. Urgent. This is not a suggestion. God is calling his people to strength. Be strong in the LORD. Location Matters. Your strength is in the Lord. This is a rally cry. To be strong is our duty. Because the world is watching. To be weak is our sin. Jesus said, I would rather you be hot or cold.”

She went on to describe Ephesians as one of the strongest letters of Paul's writing. Paul talks about the mystery of the Church in this letter. God’s secret weapon in warfare. However, before the church is called to war, she must be taught how to walk. And before she can walk, she needs to learn to stand. “Some of you haven’t learned how to stand,” She told the crowd. “When you can’t stand, find someone to stand with you and stand strong.”

Pastor Judy continued recounting the content of Ephesians--”Because of the majesty of this book, it has been called the Grand Canyon of Scripture. The Royal Capstone of the Epistles. In it, Paul covers the believers position in Christ, the believers call to responsibility, spirit filled living, spiritual warfare. Grace through faith is covered in this letter. Christ as our Peace, the peace that passes all understanding…Unity in the Church is covered here. How beautiful it is when brothers and sisters dwell together in unity.”

Paul then outlines the Gifts of the Spirit and the five fold ministry--Apostles, Prophet, Pastors, Teachers, Evangelist.

After all of that, ”AND FINALLY, Be strong in the Lord and the power of his might. Put on the WHOLE armor of God.” It’s as if he saved the best and most important message for last.

Pastor Judy declared, “Sometimes, you’ve got to go to hell and take something back! You’ve got to say that child is not yours, devil. Get your hands off them!..When you're desperate, you will get ugly..ugly cry, ugly prayers, ugly! You will storm the gates of hell to get back what belongs to you!!”

As she was describing the journey of the believer, she said “I’ve come too far to go back, or give in. I’m still here!!”

Pastor Judy quickly donned a sweatshirt that said “I’m still here” and left the stage to walk the aisles. “Some of you need to run to your breakthrough! Your breakthrough is in the run. It is in the shout. It is in your praise!!”

The air was absolutely electric and the crowd was on their feet. Dozens broke out in laps around the auditorium praising God for their breakthrough.

Pastor Jamie Tuttle called the crowd to the front declaring, "Finally, your breakthrough is here! Finally, your miracle is here. Finally!”

Pastor Judy continued--“If any of these remind you of what you are believing for…Victory is in your shout. But, If you are to get victory, you will first be broken. But God says in the season of brokenness, I am about to pour in the wine. …Some of you have been crushed. You have to be crushed in order to become wine. This weekend is a place where you will be shaped.

Your prodigal is coming home. Your body will be healed. Your mind is becoming fortified. Your prayers are going to be answered. Healing is here.”

The altars were flooded with passionate prayers. The Holy Spirit moved mightily as mothers travailed in prayer for lost prodigals and others believed for other breakthroughs in their lives.

We have no option but not to stand. Location Matters. The only thing that will last is the truth of God’s word. God has made promises in His Word, He is your Heavenly Father and he will certainly keep his promises to you.

What a service. This night set an expectant tone for the rest of the conference.
