A moment with the Binions
The "more of God"

I pondered the worship experience and the beautiful way the Binions led us to the Throne Room of Heaven over lunch. After a quick bite, I had the opportunity to briefly sit down with David and Nicole and was able to ask them, “What drives you to continue to write music and lead worship in the way that you do?”
David said, “ After I had an encounter with the terror of God, 28 yrs ago..I was suddenly aware of ‘the more of God’ place. I had grown up seeing all the things… healing, deliverance, miracles…but when the glory invaded our church, I was undone
At some point, some day, the heavens will open like that again. I often think, could this be the day..?? As I lead worship, that is always the hope.”
Nicole agreed, “Yes, You live for that encounter. You want to see others encounter him in that same way and experience his presence in a deeper way.”
David concurred, “Sometimes, we feel the windows open and you feel that breeze.. That familiar stirring and you want to hold the door open.”
Nicole inserted, “And the Lord hasn’t told us we are released from this yet!! We want to honor his call on us!”
Reflecting on their answers and the way they led the congregation into admiring the beauty, majesty and holiness of the Lord, I asked, “Do you think that people don't have enough fear and reverence for the Lord?”
Nicole chimed in,”For all of us, we are becoming more like Jesus. There is always a next layer and level of surrender. We should all be asking, ‘What is God leading me to in this season?’ If everyone fully saw the Lord for who he is, that awe and reverence…we would say yes to God and partner with Him a whole lot more.”
David continued, “Not knowing, not having encountered Him fully, you let the fear of man rule you instead of the fear of God. You get more concerned with what others might think rather than what pleases God.”
He concluded with the statement, “I think that people haven’t experienced it [the power of God], and they just haven’t felt it. When you cross paths with someone who has been there, or you are exposed to it, you are transformed.”
I, for one, am so thankful that David had an experience with--as he called it--’the more of God.’ That encounter transformed him in the best way and the change wrought in him a true gift to the body of Christ as a whole. Today’s service was a beautiful reflection of the passion he has for leading people into the very Throne Room of God.
